Venom is a proposed spin-off film of the Spider-Man film series. It was supposed to be directed by Gary Ross

The film was to follow up the events of Spider-Man 4 and have Venom be portrayed as the antihero of the film.

  • Topher Grace as Eddie Brock/Venom
  • Jim Carrey as Cletus Kasady/Carnage
  • Rebecca Ferguson as Anne Weying

Why It Was Cancelled.

  1. Sony cancelled Spider-Man 4 in 2010 and all of the Spider-Man projects connected with the Sam Raimi trilogy after the failure of Spider-Man 3 and the withdrawal of Sam Raimi
  2. The Amazing Spider-Man was going to be made, but with a different cast and director.

  • While the Gary Ross adaptation of Venom has since been discontinued, a standalone Venom film has since been revived and is set to kick off a new shared universe that is adjunct to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
  • In 2018, A film on Venom was released with a new director, Ruben Fleischer. A sequel is in the works which will be directed by Andy Serkis due to Fleischer being unavailable while directing the Uncharted movie adaptation.
