Untitled Time Machine sequel

Following the release of The Time Machine in 1960, director George Pal wanted to make a sequel. Several scripts were submitted, but were rejected by MGM.

Plot

The plot is mostly unknown. The possible story would focus on George restoring mankind.

Why It Was Cancelled

As mentioned before, MGM rejected several scripts that was submitted.
It seems likely that MGM didn't want a sequel since the original novel doesn't have a follow up and the first movie doesn't have a sequel based ending.

Results

The first movie is stand-alone.
George Pal passed away in 1980.
A documentary was made in the 1990s, entitled The Time Machine: Journey Back, which has a mini-sequel at the end.
