Sometime after the release of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Walt Disney wanted to make an adaptation of the classic story of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by Frank L. Baum.

The plot would presumably been the same as the 1939 film. Rest unknown.

Why It Was Cancelled

  1. Disney's film rights were lost to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.
  2. Samuel Goldwyn ended up selling the rights to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 1937.

  • In 1939, MGM released The Wizard of Oz.
