Why It Was Cancelled

  1. While The Golden Compass was a box office hit, the film did not exceed expectations in domestic grosses in the United States and Canada.

  • The film was permanently cancelled.
  • HBO and BBC later rebooted the entire franchise alongside with New Line Cinema as a TV series His Dark Materials.
  • Freddie Highmore (who voiced Pantalaimon) later moved on and since then he turned into a television actor in America starring in shows such as Bates Motel, The Good Doctor and Tour de Pharmacy.
