The Mummy: Rise of the Aztecs
The Mummy: Rise of the Aztecs was a planned third sequel to the Stephen Sommer's The Mummy series, which in turn would have been a sequel to Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.
The O'Connell family goes to Peru to fight against the mummy of an Aztec emperor (portrayed by Antonio Banderas).
Why It Was Cancelled
- Despite Maria Bello and Luke Ford's signing to star in the sequel, it was scrapped due to the negative reception of Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, despite being a moderate box-office success.
- The Mummy: Rise of the Aztecs was permanently canceled.
- The series was rebooted with another Mummy film which had a 2017 release. However, it flopped at the box office and was panned by critics and audiences.
