Smokey is the Bandit
Smokey is the Bandit (surfaced as Smokey IS The Bandit Part 3 in 2010) is a cancelled 1983 film starring Jackie Gleason playing both Sheriff Buford T. Justice and the Bandit.
The plot is identical to the final film, but with Jackie Gleason playing both Buford and the Bandit (mentioned earlier).
Why It Was Cancelled
- As of right now, the only reason why the film was cancelled was that test audiences didn't like the results of the original version of the film.
- The original version was cancelled and was released as Smokey and the Bandit Part 3 with Jackie Gleason playing Buford T. Justice and Jerry Reed as the Bandit due to Burt Reynolds' refusal to star in the film.
- Half of the original film was reshot with Jerry Reed as the Bandit and Jackie Gleason as Buford T. Justice due to the negative reaction from test audiences.
- In 2010, two pieces of evidence that the original version of Smokey and the Bandit Part 3 going to be made surfaced on the web, a teaser trailer and a photo of Jackie Gleason as the Bandit.
