Playmobil: The Movie was a proposed film that was originally going to be made by Sony Pictures Animation. It was based on the toy line of the same name.


Plot

The story would have been the same as the 2019 film.

Why It Was Cancelled

  1. The director decided to focus more on Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.


Result

  • The studio reworked on the film back in 2014, but StudioCanal and STX Films later acquired the distribution rights, and was released five years later in 2019. When the film was finally released, it received negative reviews from critics and audiences alike and was a box office bomb with only $16.3 million against its $40-75 million budget.
