Mulan III

From Cancelled Movies Wiki
(Redirected from Mulan 3)

Mulan III was a planned sequel to the 1998 film and the 2005 sequel Mulan II. It was planned for a 2007 release.[1]

Plot

A few months after Mulan II, Mulan must help a Chinese maiden named Wei Hua to save her father Wu Takashi, who is imprisoned in Japan.

Why it was Cancelled

  1. It was cancelled due to the extremely negative reception of Mulan II.
  2. John Lasseter called off all future direct to DVD films after being appointed as head of Disney in 2006.
  3. The production was left unfinished.

Result

  • Mulan III was permanently canceled.
  • In 2020, Disney released the remake of the first Mulan, but without singing (save for the songs performed by the artists than the cast) or Mushu. Instead, Phoenix would show up in place of Mushu. The American theatrical release was changed instead of released on Disney+ amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
