Madagascar 4 was supposed to be the fourth and last entry in the Madagascar franchise. However, production was halted when Anne Globe stated that it was too early to tell. Despite work being done on the film, it was removed from its May 18, 2018 release schedule.

The plot is currently unknown, but it would probably focus around our main heroes Alex, Marty, Gloria and Melman being tired of being in captivity and trying to return to Africa.

Why It Was Cancelled

  1. There is currently not that much information about the cancellation reasons except that the producers thought it was too early to tell if they should have a fourth film in the franchise.

  • Ben Stiller as Alex
  • Chris Rock as Marty
  • David Schwimmer as Melman
  • Jada Pinkett Smith as Gloria
  • Sacha Baron Cohen as King Julien XIII
  • Andy Ricther as Mort
  • Tom McGrath as Skipper the Penguin
  • Christopher Knights as Private the Penguin

  • The Madagascar franchise ended up being a trilogy. The spin-off and The Penguins of Madagascar are not counted.
  • The franchise ended up having a cartoon prequel/spin-off as a result.
  • The cancellation was probably from three results. The fact that NBCUniversal bought DreamWorks in 2016 and the restructuring of the studio. Also there was a policy for Dreamworks where they can't release two movies a year.
