Gore was an unreleased 2018 Netflix biographical drama film directed by Michael Hoffman and starring Kevin Spacey as Gore Vidal.

It focused on a young man (played by Douglas Booth) spends a summer in Italy where he meets his idol, Gore Vidal (played by Kevin Spacey), who teaches him about life, love, and politics. It was going to have a 2018 release on Netflix. However, the film was cancelled in November of that year following sexual assault allegations against Kevin Spacey during the Harvey Weinstein scandal and the MeToo and Time's Up movement.

Plot

It focused on a young man named Jamie (played by Douglas Booth) spends a summer in Italy where he meets his idol, Gore Vidal (played by Kevin Spacey), who teaches him about life, love, and politics.

Why It Was Cancelled

  1. The film was cancelled following the sexual assault allegations against Kevin Spacey from numerous men (including Anthony Rapp) and two women who accused him of sexual assault, rape, sexual harassment, pedophilia, child sexual abuse, and sexual misconduct during the MeToo and Time's Up movement, all of which he has denied.

Result

  • Netflix shelved Gore following the allegations against Kevin Spacey, and the film will most likely never be released.
