Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator

From Cancelled Movies Wiki

Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator was the planned sequel to the 2005 Academy-Award nominated film, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

In 2005, Burton stated that he and Johnny Depp didn't have inventions to make a sequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, based on the Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator novel.

Plot

The plot would have been the same as the book.

Why It Was Cancelled

  1. The only known reason why this film is cancelled is because Johnny Depp didn't want to make a sequel with Burton and wanted to work on other films.
  2. David Kelly wanted to make his role as Grandpa Joe even more familiar to Jack Albertson’s impression, after he replaced the latter due to him passing away from heart failure in 1981. But because Depp didn’t want to return, Kelly decided to move on with other projects.
