Batman Year One is a cancelled live-action adaptation of the Frank Miller novel by Darren Aronofsky. Development/production was supposed to begin in 2000 to 2002.

Why It Was Cancelled

  • Warner Bros. thought the script was too dark.

Result

  • The film was re-written and became Batman Begins in 2003 and was released in 2005.
  • Darren Aronofsky would later go on and direct The Fountain with Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz instead in 2006 for Warner Bros. after leaving his failed Batman project Batman: Year One.
