Atuk is a proposed adaptation of the 1963 book The Incomparable Atuk by Mordecai Richler. The film was originally going to be released sometime in the 1970s and later in the 1980s.


A Canadian Inuit named Atuk travels to Toronto.

Why It Was Cancelled

  1. Actors John Belushi, Sam Kinison, John Candy, Phil Hartman and Chris Farley, who were hired before filming began died.


  • The film has been shelved for many years and will probably not be made at all.


  • A popular urban legend claims the script is cursed and those who show any interest in it are doomed to die.
